Four Easy Scarf Knots for Fall

Accessorizing is an excellent way to give new life to previously worn outfits. As the fall weather transitions to the crisp air of winter, scarves are the perfect accessories to ornament your attire. Read on to learn about four simple knots that will compliment, your current styles.

Simple Loop

This is by far one of the quickest ways to tie a scarf. The simple loop is a casual look that can create a thick knot near your neck for added warmth.

Step 1: Loop one end of the scarf and pull to one side of neck while tails drape to the other side.

Step 2:  Pull both tails through the loop.

Step 3:  Pull tight on both tails to bring loop to desired height.

Casual Swing

A slight variation of the simple loop, the casual swing has a more advanced appearance without a lot of extra work.

Step 1: Loop one end of the scarf and pull to one side of neck while tails drape to the other side.

Step 2:  Pull one tail over one part the loop and under the other. Pull second tale under the first side of the loop and over the second side.

Step 3:  Hold both tails as you side the loops up to desired height.

Ascot

This knot was traditionally used as part of daytime formalwear for men. The finished clean line offers the perfect housing for a broach to help feminize this conventionally masculine knot.

Step 1: Drape scarf around neck as to allow a tail to hang over each shoulder.

Step 2:  Simply pull one tail behind the other and over the top of the knot.

Step 3:  Straighten out the top of the scarf to lay flat over the knot and both tails to hang equally.

Buckaroo Knot

The Buckaroo knot, initially used for cowboys and girls, has a clean, geometric, and finished look. A lighter silk or satin scarf will help this knot tie and lie nicely.

Step 1: Drape scarf around neck as to allow a tail to hang over each shoulder.

Step 2: Loop right tail behind left and hold with right hand.

Step 3: While still holding place index finger under the left tail to create a loop, then bring left tail up and over knot.

Step 4:  Bring right tail over the front of the left tail and through the loop you made with your index finger.

Step 5:  Gently pull tails and top of scarf to create a loose square or “buckaroo” knot.
