Downtown Ames Oktoberfest 2013

When: Saturday, October 12th 1pm-11pm

Where: Main Street, Ames Iowa

What:  German culture will be celebrated on October 12th on Main Street. Visit the Ames Oktoberfest Website for more information! There will be a brew contest, gutenentag games, polka dancing and a life performance from The Nadas. Don’t miss this fall festivity!

Ames Library Zombie Walk

When: Saturday, October 19th 2:30pm-4pm

Where: Tom Evans Plaza, Ames Iowa

What: Walk with the undead beginning and ending at Tom Evans Plaza (The park outside of the MAGIC store on Main Street) Come dressed in your undead finest. Volunteers will be available at Tom Evans for makeup 1-2pm. There will be a scavenger hunt anytime between 1and 4pm. This is an ALL age event. Hosted by Ames Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group to benefit APL’S renovation fund.

Trick or Treat Main Street

When: Thursday October 31st Time TBD

Where: Main Street, Ames Iowa

What:  Bring your little ghosts and ghouls for a night of Trick-or-Treating downtown! Watch for exact times to be posted on the Main Street website.

You Should Get to Know.

Vannoy,RJEach month we will be featuring a staff member for you to get to know! Our staff thinks of our consigners and shoppers as an extension of the Duck Worth Wearing family and we want to connect! This month you should get to know our very own RJ Vannoy.

Who: RJ Vannoy

Position: Sales associate at The Loft

Past: RJ grew up in Gilbert, Iowa but loved spending all of his free time in Ames. This love for Ames has made working at The Loft the perfect place to invest his time.  RJ have been working at The Loft since August of 2011.

Present: RJ is a pure bread cyclone as he attends ISU as did both of his parents and sister, who is currently completing her senior year. RJ’s dad is now retired and his mom works in the graduate admissions department of ISU. RJ and his family care for two cats as well as a few fish.

As a current  junior studying Business Economics at ISU, RJ expects to graduate in two and a half years. He loves to entertain friends with his two roommates who are both named Trevor, hanging out on campus.

Future: RJ has big goals for the future including owning his own coffee shop, just outside of Ames to remain close to his family

In Closing.
