It’s hard to believe with the sun still shining bright, but by mid month we will be accepting winter items! This is fair warning to get downtown for the outdoor events in September on Main Street to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather and great shopping at The Loft. We have everything you need for ISU tailgating so stop in and see us this month!

Main Street Farmers Market
When: Saturdays now through October. 8am-12:30pm
Where: 300 & 400 Block of Main Street and the Tom Evans Park
What: The Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market is a community event with local vendors and producers bringing their best to sell and share! It’s a great time to start the weekend with family and friends as you stroll in the sunshine down Main Street. It will bring you conveniently closer to our front door which is only a few steps away from great deals on all things your family needs to save time and money! The Loft opens at 9am on Farmers’ Market Saturdays.
Downtown Main Street Music Walk
When: Thursday September 11th 5-8pm (After hours 8-10pm)
Where: Main Street, Ames Iowa
What: Visit the Ames Main Street Cultural District for an evening of shopping and live music at almost every corner throughout the district! The event will run officially from 5pm to 8pm. Meet up with the musicians after hours at Wiskey River on Main Street.
Downtown Ames Oktoberfest 2014
When: Friday September 19th and Saturday September 20th
Where: Main Street, Ames Iowa
What: German culture will be celebrated on Main Street! Visit the Ames Oktoberfest Website for more information! The Nadas and Vertical Horizon doors open at 6pm on Friday. Saturday will be the day to enjoy Guten Tag Games, a beer at the craft beer tent, European Wine Pavilion, polka dancing lessons!
Please note the following dates for consignment acceptance of seasonal items.
- September 15th – We will begin accepting winter clothing which includes winter coats and heavy sweaters.
- We are currently taking jeans.
- December – We will begin accepting long prom dresses. Remember to check dresses for stains on the inside and out.
**A friendly reminder: When bringing in consignment please have your items neatly folded in a box or bag. Condition should be ready to wear and wrinkle free.
Homecoming is just around the corner and dresses are ready for you to shop! We have so many dresses to choose from we’re no longer taking homecoming dresses on consignment.
Our men’s department is really growing so spread the word to the men in your life that deals are lining our racks, even for homecoming attire!

Each month we will be featuring a staff member for you to get to know! Our staff thinks of our consigners and shoppers as an extension of the The Loft family and we want to connect! This month you should get to know our very own Claire Aitchison.
Position: Sales Associate at Duck Worth Wearing.
Past: Claire is from Ames and joined the Duck Worth Wearing team earlier this spring.
Present: Claire lives with her large family with eight siblings, 7 of which are girls. She fits right in as she enjoys baking pies, especially black raspberry and helping with her family’s baking business.
Claire loves people and traveling which made her three mission trips to Nicaragua a huge success. Claire also loves being involved in 4H activities.
Future: Claire has a few years left before she finishes up high school. Her immediate plans include using her love for people to help serve customers at Duck Worth Wearing.
