Tall and Thin:

tall and thinStyles to look for:

  • Straight-legged jeans
  • Flared jeans
  • Skinny jeans

Things to avoid:

  • High waisted jeans
  • Boyfriend jeans

A long lean frame gives you the option of showing off a slender line or adding interest with shape your don’t normally possess. Straight leg and skinny jeans will help accentuate your long lines and would be stunning in a dark color. Flared jeans help give a little interest by adding some additional shape.

Styles to look for:

  • Wide legged trousers
  • Contoured waistbands
  • High-rise jeans

Things to avoid:

  • Straight cut waistbands
  • Low-rise jeans
  • Elaborate embellishments

An hourglass figure is one that has a natural curvaceous shape.  A wide leg gives a straight look, a contour helps show off curves, and high rise jeans help to keep things in place. Elaborate embellishments bring attention to the wrong areas and should be avoided.

Pear shaped:

Styles to look for:

  • Mid-rise jeans
  • Trouser jeans
  • Flare or boot-cut jeans

Things to avoid:

  • Tapered jeans
  • Low-rise jeans
  • Small back pockets

A pear shaped body is one with a wider rear and tapered calf. This figure does well with a mid-rise, trouser, and flared leg to create balance.  Avoid small pockets which would make a derrière appear larger than its actual size.

Styles to look for:

  • Medium rise jeans with a slight flare
  • Stretchy jeans
  • Bootcut style

Things to avoid:

  • Rhinestones
  • Elaborate embellishments
  • Faded effects

If you have natural curves then you can get away with a few modern styles that feature medium rise, stretchy fabrics, and a bootcut. This helps provide a balanced look. Faded jeans tend to pull the eye to areas of the leg you might wish to minimize.
